In this day and age, we are all more aware of what products we buy, how they may affect the environment, and if they are exploiting a lowly paid work force in a foreign land. With some shutters though, you can be assured that they are environmentally friendly.

So, what exactly is an environmentally sound wooden shutter? This is a more complicated question to answer than it might at first seem. Starting from the beginning, the material sourced should have as less impact on the environment as possible. So, for example, a shutter made from synthetic material, would have an impact in its manufacturing process, and may not be bio-degradable.
For wooden shutters, the material must be sourced from a carefully managed and replaceable forest plantation. The impact of its harvest should have a minimal impact on the environment as possible, and of course, it goes without saying, that being wooden, these shutters are biodegradable.
Wooden shutters, as well as having all these environmental benefits, simply look better as well. You will probably only ever buy one set of shutters per house that you live in, and so make a wise decision, and by wooden shutters made from quality hardwoods with a good design.
